J&K Operation Trashi-I, Day 14: Security Forces Re-Engage Terrorists in Dolgam After Brief Disconnection.

In Jammu and Kashmir's Dolgam, security forces have re-established contact with terrorists, leading to a fresh encounter on Saturday, January 31, 2026. This development marks the 14th day of the ongoing Operation Trashi-I.

The operation, a joint effort involving the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was launched following coordinated intelligence inputs. Security forces have cordoned off the area to prevent the escape of the militants and are actively conducting search operations.

This renewed engagement follows intensified anti-terror operations in the Kishtwar district, where security forces are targeting three Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists in the Chatroo area. As a precautionary measure, internet services remain suspended in a six-kilometer radius around the operation site, affecting areas including Singpura, Arigam, Dwathar, and Naidgam. The internet shutdown, initially imposed on January 23, has been extended until Friday at 11:59 pm by order of the Jammu and Kashmir home department.

Operation Trashi-I began on January 18 in a snowbound area. The challenging terrain has allowed militants to repeatedly evade capture. On the first day of the operation, one paratrooper was killed, and seven soldiers were injured. Encounters on January 22 at Mali Dana Top and on January 25 in the Janseer–Kandiwar area also resulted in the militants escaping due to the dense vegetation and deep snow.

Earlier in the operation, on January 19, eight army personnel sustained injuries during a prolonged gunfight with terrorists in a remote forested area of Kishtwar district. The White Knight Corps reported that the initial contact was made during a search operation in the Sonar area, northeast of Chatroo. Following an overnight pause, security forces resumed their search to track down terrorists in the forest area of Chhatru. The operation was launched in Sonar village after intelligence inputs indicated the presence of terrorists. Due to dense vegetation, steep terrain, and poor visibility, the operation was halted late Sunday night.
