Riding on strong word-of-mouth and a resurgence in audience interest, "Border 2," starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, is making a strong push towards the ₹400 crore mark worldwide. After experiencing a slight dip in collections during the weekdays, the war drama witnessed a significant surge in numbers over the second weekend, particularly on its tenth day.
On its tenth day, which was the second Sunday of its release, "Border 2" earned an estimated ₹22.50 crore in India. This marks an impressive nearly 27% increase compared to the previous day, Saturday. The total India net collection after 10 days stands at ₹275.25 crore.
The Sunny Deol starrer roared at the box office this Sunday, and made over ₹20 crore in the domestic market.
Globally, "Border 2," directed by Anurag Singh, has grossed ₹372 crore. This includes ₹329 crore from domestic collections and ₹43 crore from overseas. With this performance, the film is now eyeing the ₹400 crore worldwide gross mark.
Despite not quite reaching the record-breaking Day 10 numbers of films like "Dhurandhar" (₹58 crore), "Pushpa 2" (₹46 crore), and "Chhaava" (₹40 crore), "Border 2"'s ₹22.5 crore is a respectable figure, ranking it 15th among Hindi films for Day 10 collections.
"Border 2" has received positive reviews from critics and audiences, with many praising it as a war epic that honors the legacy of the 1997 original. Taran Adarsh gave the film a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, describing it as a "thunderous, emotionally charged war epic". He lauded Sunny Deol as the "beating heart" of the film.
The film has been noted for balancing large-scale spectacle with deep sentiment. While some reviews pointed out that the VFX could have been better and the length a little shorter, the writing, direction, emotional depth, performances, and action sequences have generally been praised.
"Border 2" explores the valor of soldiers while also examining their vulnerabilities and mental states. The film portrays the courage and fortitude of the soldiers, as well as their doubts and frailties, highlighting the sacrifices they make and the families they leave behind. Sunny Deol's performance includes his signature fiery speeches, which have resonated with audiences.
The film's narrative unfolds on land, at sea, and in the sky, showcasing the combined efforts of the Indian Army, Air Force, and Navy in defending the borders. The action sequences are interspersed with quieter moments that allow the soldiers and their families to express their emotions.
