Sabarimala Gold Loss Investigation: UDF Convenor Adoor Prakash Questioned by Special Investigation Team.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Sabarimala gold loss case interrogated UDF convener and Congress MP Adoor Prakash on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Prakash arrived at the Crime Branch office after receiving a notice to appear for questioning.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has raised allegations against Prakash after a photograph surfaced showing him with Unnikrishnan Potty, the prime accused in the Sabarimala gold loss case, during a meeting with Congress leader Sonia Gandhi at her residence.

Responding to the allegations, Prakash admitted to meeting Potty on multiple occasions and attending events organized by him. He asserted that he has no connection to the Sabarimala gold loss case and that Potty was a resident of his constituency whom he knew as an Ayyappa devotee.

Prakash stated that he first met Potty in 2019 after being elected as the MP from the Attingal Lok Sabha constituency. He added that he was invited to an annadhanam (offering of food) at the Sabarimala temple. Prakash also mentioned visiting Potty's house after the death of his father and Potty's sister's house in Venjaramoodu with KPCC leader Remani Nair.

Prakash addressed a specific instance where Potty gifted him a packet during a visit to Bengaluru, stating it contained dates which he then handed over to someone else. He denied receiving any benefits from Potty, stating firmly that it was "not a share of anything that Potty allegedly stole from Sabarimala". Regarding the photograph showing Potty handing him a cover, Prakash clarified it was an invitation to a function at Potty's sister's house. He also denied facilitating the meeting between Potty and Sonia Gandhi.

Prakash suggested that some individuals might be behind the allegations, possibly from within or outside the Congress party, but refrained from making any direct accusations. V.D. Satheesan, the Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, defended Prakash, stating that knowing Potty as a constituent did not link him to the Sabarimala gold loss case.

The SIT is currently investigating the loss of gold from idols and doorframes at the Sabarimala temple.
