Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko is in the hospital after a tragic road accident near Salem, Tamil Nadu, on Friday, June 6, 2025. The accident claimed the life of his father, C.P. Chacko.

The family was traveling from Ernakulam to Bengaluru when the accident occurred around 6 AM. According to initial reports, a lorry veered off course and collided with their car. Shine's father, who was sitting in the middle row with his wife, sustained critical injuries and died at the hospital.

Shine Tom Chacko sustained injuries to his right hand and may need surgery. His mother, brother, and the driver sustained minor injuries and are being treated at a hospital in Dharmapuri. Shine was reportedly asleep in the back seat when the collision happened. His brother was in the front with the driver, and his parents were in the middle seat.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and the identity of the driver of the lorry. The family was reportedly on their way to Salem for medical treatment following an earlier course of treatment in Thodupuzha.

The accident has cast a pall of grief over the Malayalam film industry and among Shine Tom Chacko's well-wishers. Further details about the incident are awaited as the investigation progresses.
