Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has strongly condemned the killing of innocent civilians in Pahalgam, asserting that the perpetrators were motivated by religious bias. Singh made these remarks at an event in Hyderabad, Telangana, during the 128th birth anniversary celebrations of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. He stated that the terrorists chose their victims based on their "dharma," while the Indian Armed Forces, in response, acted based on the terrorists' "karma".

Singh highlighted the retaliatory action undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces, specifically "Operation Sindoor," which targeted and destroyed terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He emphasized that the forces displayed remarkable patience and restraint during the operation, ensuring that no harm was inflicted upon the civilian population. Singh affirmed that the armed forces, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are fully capable and authorized to take any necessary action against terrorism in the future.

The Defense Minister lauded the courage and discretion shown by the forces in avenging the Pahalgam attack. He contrasted the actions of the terrorists, who he said acted based on religious identity, with the forces' focus on eliminating them for their heinous deeds. Singh proclaimed that it is the "Bharatiya dharma" of India to eliminate such threats. He also conveyed the nation's unwavering support for the armed forces and their dedication to protecting the country.

Singh also criticized Pakistan for harboring anti-India and terrorist organizations, urging them to cease using their land for activities against India. He commended the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their united condemnation of the terror attack, stating that their anger sent a clear message that terrorism will not be tolerated.

"Operation Sindoor" was described by Singh as the most decisive anti-terror action in the past 30 years. He praised the forces for their pinpoint precision in destroying enemy shelters, ensuring that the terrorists understand they are not safe anywhere. Singh stated that the operation's targets were destroyed as per plan and in a measured manner, exercising India's "right to respond" to attacks on its soil. The operation was a response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians.

The Defense Minister also noted that the choice of women officers to lead the briefing on "Operation Sindoor" was symbolic, honoring the women widowed by the Pahalgam attack and reflecting the strength and sacrifice of the armed forces.
