Mumbai-based Summit Studios is making a splash at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025, with two films premiering at the festival. This marks a significant debut on the global stage for the recently launched production and post-production company, founded by producer Madhu Sharma.

The two films selected for TIFF are "Bayaan," directed by Bikas Mishra and starring Huma Qureshi, and "Vimukt (In Search of the Sky)," directed by Jitank Singh Gurjar. "Bayaan" will have its world premiere in the Discovery section, which is known for showcasing emerging global voices. "Vimukt" is set to premiere in the festival's Centrepiece section. The 50th edition of TIFF will take place from September 4–14, 2025.

Madhu Sharma, the founder of Summit Studios, expressed her excitement about the global recognition, stating, "To have both Bayaan and Vimukt find a home at TIFF in our very first year feels nothing short of magical". She further added that it tells them that the world is ready for these voices, and they are proud to bring them to the screen. Sharma also emphasized the studio's aim to back interesting voices that are Indian at heart and can be showcased on the world stage.

Summit Studios is not only a production house but also a state-of-the-art post-production facility, offering DI, VFX, and sound services under one roof. Sharma shared the studio's vision, stating, "The goal is to create a space where bold ideas meet technical excellence, and where films can be nurtured from their first spark to their final frame".

"Bayaan" centers on Roohi Kartar, a rookie detective dispatched from Delhi to a remote Rajasthani town, portrayed by Huma Qureshi. As she investigates, she grapples with power structures. "Bayaan" marks its world premiere on September 7 in the Discovery section.

TIFF's Centrepiece program will showcase compelling cinema from around the world, with 55 titles from filmmakers representing nearly fifty countries. The Centrepiece program includes 19 world premieres.

TIFF's 50th edition will feature a diverse selection of films, including world premieres and films from acclaimed filmmakers. The festival will also include galas and special presentations.

With two world premieres at TIFF in its inaugural year, Summit Studios has firmly positioned itself as an emerging player in India's film industry, combining artistic storytelling with technical prowess. The debut of "Bayaan" and "Vimukt" at an international festival highlights the studio's commitment to nurturing cinema that resonates both in India and on the global stage. As Summit Studios begins its journey, the industry will be watching closely to see how the studio continues to champion original voices and push the boundaries of Indian cinema.
