The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on Tuesday at the residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj in connection with an alleged hospital construction scam. The raids are part of a larger money laundering investigation into corruption and misappropriation of funds related to health infrastructure projects in Delhi.

Saurabh Bharadwaj, the MLA from Greater Kailash, has held significant positions in the Delhi government, including Minister of Health, Urban Development, and Water, and Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board. He is also a prominent spokesperson for the AAP.

The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has registered a case against Bharadwaj and former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, concerning alleged corruption in health projects. The ACB stated that 24 hospital projects, including 11 greenfield and 13 brownfield developments, were sanctioned in 2018–19 at a cost of ₹5,590 crore. The agency alleges major delays, cost escalations, massive irregularities, unexplained delays, and significant financial embezzlement in these projects. Funds designated for constructing hospitals, polyclinics, and ICU wings were allegedly siphoned off. The case was registered following approval under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on a complaint filed on August 22, 2024, by Vijender Gupta, then Leader of Opposition in Delhi, who highlighted "grave irregularities" in hospital projects under the Delhi government.

According to sources, the ED is conducting searches at approximately 12 locations in Delhi under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This action is the latest in a series of ED investigations targeting AAP leaders. Previously, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and ex-CM Arvind Kejriwal faced raids related to the Delhi excise policy case, while Satyendar Jain was investigated in connection with the Jal Board scam. Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan has also been under investigation.
