Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has lauded England's batting lineup ahead of the highly anticipated Ashes 2025 series, calling it the strongest he has seen in his career. Hazlewood's comments highlight the respect Australia holds for its rivals as they prepare for the series, which begins on November 21 in Perth.

Hazlewood singled out Joe Root and Harry Brook as key threats in England's batting order. He acknowledged Root's experience and current form, noting that the former England captain is in the "form of his life". Despite Root's impressive Test record, he is yet to score a century in Australia. Hazlewood believes that this could be Root's breakthrough series Down Under.

Brook, on the other hand, is set for his first Ashes tour in Australia. Hazlewood believes that Brook's aggressive style could suit Australian conditions. The young batsman has already made a significant impact on the international stage, amassing 2,820 runs at an average of 57.55, including 10 centuries in just 30 Tests. Hazlewood feels that Brook's lack of "baggage" could be an advantage, allowing him to play with freedom.

Hazlewood also commented on the conditions that England have been playing in, noting that the flat wickets and dry summer in England might lead to their batters tiring and becoming more susceptible to spin. However, he remains confident that players like Brook will adapt to the different conditions in Australia.

Hazlewood has opted to maintain match intensity by participating in white-ball series against South Africa, unlike fellow bowlers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, who chose to rest. Hazlewood explained that he finds it challenging to regain intensity and volume after a long break, so he prefers to keep playing. He is also scheduled to participate in Australia's upcoming white-ball assignments against New Zealand and India. Hazlewood is also keen to play in a Sheffield Shield match before the Ashes series to fine-tune his red-ball rhythm.

Cricket Australia has released the schedule for the 2025-26 Ashes series well in advance to allow fans, especially those traveling from overseas, to plan their itineraries. The series will commence with the "West Test" at Perth Stadium from November 21-25, 2025. The series will continue with a day-night Test at the Gabba in Brisbane (December 4-8), followed by the traditional Christmas Test at Adelaide Oval (December 17-21), the Melbourne Boxing Day Test (December 26-30), and the New Year's Test in Sydney (January 4-8, 2026).
