The 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) held on August 29, 2025, saw Chairman Mukesh Ambani announce a significant joint venture with Meta to ensure widespread access to Artificial Intelligence (AI) across India. This partnership aims to combine Meta's open-source AI models with Reliance's extensive reach and expertise across various industries, delivering "sovereign, enterprise-ready AI solutions" for the nation.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who joined the AGM virtually, echoed this sentiment, stating, "At Meta, we want to deliver super intelligence to everyone". He emphasized the potential of this technology to empower individuals and improve lives, expressing his excitement about collaborating with Reliance to bring AI and superintelligence to every corner of India. Zuckerberg believes this venture will equip entrepreneurs, creators, and companies with the necessary tools to succeed.

The joint venture will focus on developing AI frameworks tailored to address India's unique challenges and complexities, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. It will leverage open models and tools from Meta, combined with Reliance's execution capabilities in key sectors such as energy, retail, telecom, media, and manufacturing. This collaboration aims to build "sovereign enterprise AI solutions" using open models and tools from Meta.

In addition to the Meta partnership, Mukesh Ambani announced the launch of Reliance Intelligence, a new wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to advancing AI solutions for India. This subsidiary will focus on building India's next-generation AI infrastructure, forging global partnerships, delivering affordable AI services for sectors of national importance, and creating a hub for world-class AI talent. Reliance Intelligence will also establish gigawatt-scale, AI-ready data centers powered by green energy, with work already underway on such a facility in Jamnagar.

Furthermore, Reliance is partnering with Google to establish a dedicated Jio Cloud region in India, combining Reliance's infrastructure with Google's AI and cloud technologies. Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that this initiative will "help shape the next leap with AI" and bring advanced compute power closer to Indian developers, startups, and enterprises.

These strategic partnerships and initiatives underscore Reliance's commitment to placing AI at the core of its next phase of growth. By collaborating with Meta and Google, and establishing Reliance Intelligence, the company aims to accelerate AI adoption across India and contribute to the nation's technological advancement and economic growth.

The announcements at the AGM also included the confirmation of the Jio IPO, which is expected to hit the Indian stock market in the first half of 2026. Anant Ambani shared plans for the company's new energy business, including a battery giga factory slated to begin operations in 2026.
