Newcastle United's quest for their first Premier League win of the 2025/26 season continues after a goalless draw against newly-promoted Leeds United at Elland Road. Despite an improved performance compared to their opening-day defeat against Liverpool, the Magpies were unable to break down a resolute Leeds side, leaving fans with a sense of frustration.

Eddie Howe's men traveled to Elland Road hoping to kickstart their campaign after a narrow 3-2 loss to Liverpool. However, they faced a Leeds team determined to make their home ground a fortress. Daniel Farke's side, fresh from promotion, displayed resilience and tactical discipline, denying Newcastle's attacking threats.

The game itself was a tightly contested affair, with clear-cut chances few and far between. Newcastle's new signing, Nick Woltemade, watched from the stands, but was not eligible to play. United completed the transfer of the German international from Stuttgart earlier in the day for a reported £69 million.

Newcastle will begin the defence of their Carabao Cup title with a Third Round home tie against League One Bradford City. The Magpies are back in the UEFA Champions League after competing in the tournament's group stages during the 2023/24 season and the draw for the league phase will take place on Thursday, 28th August. Newcastle will discover their eight opponents, with four fixtures taking place at St. James' Park and four taking place on away soil.

Looking ahead, Newcastle's schedule includes a home game against Wolves on September 13th after the international break. They will also face Bournemouth (away) on September 20th and Arsenal (home) on September 27th. October brings matches against Nottingham Forest (home) on the 4th and Brighton (away) on the 18th. The team will also participate in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup.
