Vivek Agnihotri's latest film, "The Bengal Files," is reportedly struggling at the box office. The movie, which was released on September 5, 2025, has seen a slow start, with collections significantly lower than Agnihotri's previous blockbuster, "The Kashmir Files".
On its opening day, "The Bengal Files" earned ₹1.75 crore. Early estimates for the second day indicated a slight increase, with the film collecting around ₹2.04 crore. This brings the total two-day collection to approximately ₹3.79 crore. However, different sources provide slightly varying figures, with one mentioning ₹2.7 crore for the first two days. Another source reports the film earned ₹2.25 crore on its second day, bringing the total to ₹4 crore.
The film had an overall Hindi occupancy of 26.46% on Saturday. The occupancy rate reflects the percentage of available seats that were filled during screenings.
"The Bengal Files" is facing stiff competition from other releases, including "Baaghi 4," starring Tiger Shroff. "Baaghi 4" has outperformed "The Bengal Files" by a significant margin, earning ₹9 crore on its second day and reaching a total of ₹21 crore in two days.
The cast of "The Bengal Files" includes Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Simrat Kaur, Darshan Kumar, Anupam Kher, and Saswata Chatterjee. The film is directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and produced by I Am Buddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts.
The film's performance is a stark contrast to "The Kashmir Files," which opened at ₹3.55 crore and became a major box office success in 2022.
Despite the slow start, it is suggested that "The Bengal Files" may gain momentum if positive word-of-mouth spreads. However, as of now, the film is underperforming compared to expectations and is struggling against the competition.
