In Jalandhar, Punjab, a woman's courageous act of resistance against armed robbers in a moving auto-rickshaw has become a viral sensation. The incident occurred on the Phillaur-Ludhiana highway when the woman, identified as Meena Kumari, hired an auto-rickshaw on her way to her village. Unbeknownst to her, the auto drivers were actually robbers in disguise.

During the ride, three men inside the vehicle brandished sharp weapons and attempted to rob her. Meena Kumari displayed remarkable bravery by fighting back and clinging to the side of the moving auto-rickshaw in a desperate attempt to escape. She cried out for help from other commuters as the driver recklessly sped down the highway, even ramming into another car.

The woman's courageous resistance forced the auto to overturn. Two of the assailants were apprehended by passersby and handed over to the highway police, while the third managed to escape. Authorities are currently searching for the absconding suspect.

The video of the incident, filmed by a car driver, has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and praise for the woman's bravery. Social media users have lauded her courage, with many also expressing concern over law and order in the Punjab region. One user on X wrote, "Crazy and courageous!! A woman foiled a robbery on a moving auto on the Phillaur–Ludhiana highway; she fought against the robbers, clung to the side of the auto, and forced it to overturn, trapping the men inside".

Meena Kumari had taken the auto-rickshaw from the Jalandhar bypass to catch a bus to Nawanshahr. During the ride, one of the passengers asked the driver to stop the auto on the pretext of going to the toilet. Upon his return, the men moved her to the middle seat. When she asked to be let out, they refused and brandished sharp weapons, attempting to tie her hands with her dupatta. It was then that she began to fight back and call for help.

According to the police, two suspects, Mohit of Subhash Nagar and Dimple, residing near AR Model School, have been arrested. The third accused, Shubham of Subhash Nagar, is still at large. Police have confirmed that Mohit has a criminal history, with three previous cases against him. Deputy Commissioner of Police Rupinder Singh addressed the media, commending the woman's bravery and assuring that efforts are being made to capture the remaining suspect.
