A political controversy has erupted in Rajasthan over the installation of additional cameras inside the Rajasthan Assembly, with the opposition Congress party accusing Speaker Vasudev Devnani of impropriety and spying. The Congress alleges that the cameras, secretly installed, are being misused to surveil opposition members, particularly women legislators.

The controversy began when Congress leaders, including PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully, questioned the installation of extra cameras behind the opposition benches. Congress MLAs even wore caps with the logo 'Jagga Jasoos' to the assembly, symbolizing their allegations of being spied on. They claim the cameras are equipped with powerful lenses and sensors capable of picking up even private conversations.

Dotasra has accused Speaker Devnani of wanting to "spy on women MLAs of the opposition" and "see what women are wearing, in what condition they are sitting, and what they are talking about". He described the Speaker's alleged conduct as "shameful". Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also criticized Devnani, stating that the control system for the extra cameras is located in the Speaker's chamber, implying that only the Speaker or his personal secretary can access the footage. Gehlot called the situation "a very serious matter" and demanded an investigation.

Jully has alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of the cameras, claiming they cost the assembly Rs 18.46 lakh and were recently bought, contrary to the Speaker's claim that they were simply upgraded. He also alleged that assembly officials are destroying evidence and manipulating documents. The Congress party has submitted a memorandum to the Governor, demanding an independent inquiry into the matter.

The BJP has defended the installation of the cameras, stating they are "360-degree cameras" meant for enhanced security, drawing a comparison to a security breach in the Lok Sabha. State Education Minister Madan Dilawar has accused Dotasra of leading a "characterless gang" and defended Speaker Devnani, asserting his "spotless" image. Dilawar also attacked Rahul Gandhi, alleging inappropriate behavior towards women during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. These remarks have further fueled the political firestorm, with Food and Civil Supply Minister Sumit Godara and Urban Development Minister Jhabbar Singh Kharra condemning Dotasra's remarks as "unbecoming of an elected representative".

The Congress is demanding that they be shown the footage from the cameras to verify their purpose. The party is also planning a campaign against alleged "vote theft" from September 15 to October 15. The controversy has deepened the political divide in Rajasthan, with both sides trading accusations and demanding investigations.
