On his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a nationwide health outreach program aimed at improving the health and well-being of women and children. The initiative, called 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' (Healthy Women, Empowered Families) Abhiyaan, was launched alongside the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month).

The 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' Abhiyaan is a 16-day health camp that will run from September 17th to October 2nd across the country. The campaign is jointly led by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD). Over one lakh health camps will be organized, making it the largest ever health outreach for women and children in the country. These camps will be set up at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres (CHCs), district hospitals, and other government health facilities.

The health camps will offer a range of services, including health check-ups and screening for non-communicable diseases such as cancers, anemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease. The initiative focuses on providing women-centric preventive, promotive, and curative health services at the community level. It aims to strengthen early detection and treatment linkages while also promoting maternal, child, and adolescent health through antenatal care, immunization, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, lifestyle, and mental health awareness activities.

In addition to the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' Abhiyaan, PM Modi also launched several other initiatives on his birthday:

  • Suman Sakhi Chatbot: This chatbot aims to provide women in rural and remote areas with timely and accurate information on maternal and child health.
  • Distribution of Sickle Cell Screening and Counselling Cards: PM Modi distributed one crore Sickle Cell Screening and Counselling Cards in Madhya Pradesh as part of the national campaign against sickle cell anemia.
  • Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) Funds Transfer: Funds were transferred directly to the bank accounts of nearly 1 million eligible women under the PMMVY. Under this scheme, ₹5,000 is provided in three installments to the mother as maternity benefit for the first child, and ₹6,000 is provided for the birth of the second child if the second child is a girl.
  • Ayushman Bhav Campaign: While officially launched earlier by the President of India, the spirit of this campaign aligns with PM Modi's focus on healthcare accessibility. The Ayushman Bhav campaign aims to extend health service coverage to every village and town. It includes initiatives like Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0 for Ayushman card distribution, Ayushman Melas at health centers, and Ayushman Sabhas to raise awareness about health schemes.
  • Adi Karmyogi Abhiyan: A program combining tribal pride with nation-building, focusing on health, education, nutrition, skill development, livelihood generation, water conservation, and sanitation in tribal regions.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the PM Mitra Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to boost economic growth and benefit cotton growers in the region.

These initiatives are part of the BJP's 'Sewa Pakhwada' (September 17 - October 2), which coincides with Gandhi Jayanti and is observed to mark Modi's birthday with welfare programs. The 'Sewa Pakhwada' also includes blood donation drives and health check-ups organized by BJP units. Blood donors will be registered on the e-Raktkosh portal, and pledge campaigns will be run through MyGov. The campaign will also enroll beneficiaries under PM-JAY, Ayushman Vaya Vandana, and ABHA. Help desks will be set up at health camps for card verification and grievance redressal. Yoga sessions, Ayurveda consultations, and other AYUSH services will be organized to promote holistic health and wellness practices for women and families. The campaign will mobilize communities towards healthy lifestyle practices with a special emphasis on obesity prevention, improved nutrition, and voluntary blood donation.
