On his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a nationwide health outreach program aimed at improving the health and well-being of women and children. The initiative, called 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' (Healthy Women, Empowered Families) Abhiyaan, was launched alongside the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Month).
The 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' Abhiyaan is a 16-day health camp that will run from September 17th to October 2nd across the country. The campaign is jointly led by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD). Over one lakh health camps will be organized, making it the largest ever health outreach for women and children in the country. These camps will be set up at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres (CHCs), district hospitals, and other government health facilities.
The health camps will offer a range of services, including health check-ups and screening for non-communicable diseases such as cancers, anemia, tuberculosis, and sickle cell disease. The initiative focuses on providing women-centric preventive, promotive, and curative health services at the community level. It aims to strengthen early detection and treatment linkages while also promoting maternal, child, and adolescent health through antenatal care, immunization, nutrition, menstrual hygiene, lifestyle, and mental health awareness activities.
In addition to the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' Abhiyaan, PM Modi also launched several other initiatives on his birthday:
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the PM Mitra Park in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to boost economic growth and benefit cotton growers in the region.
These initiatives are part of the BJP's 'Sewa Pakhwada' (September 17 - October 2), which coincides with Gandhi Jayanti and is observed to mark Modi's birthday with welfare programs. The 'Sewa Pakhwada' also includes blood donation drives and health check-ups organized by BJP units. Blood donors will be registered on the e-Raktkosh portal, and pledge campaigns will be run through MyGov. The campaign will also enroll beneficiaries under PM-JAY, Ayushman Vaya Vandana, and ABHA. Help desks will be set up at health camps for card verification and grievance redressal. Yoga sessions, Ayurveda consultations, and other AYUSH services will be organized to promote holistic health and wellness practices for women and families. The campaign will mobilize communities towards healthy lifestyle practices with a special emphasis on obesity prevention, improved nutrition, and voluntary blood donation.
