SSC CGL 2025 Mumbai Fire Victims' Re-Exam Set for October 14, Question Objections Open October 15.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced key updates regarding the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025. The SSC CGL 2025 Tier-1 exam was conducted from September 12 to 26, 2025. Approximately 28 lakh candidates applied for the examination, with around 13.5 lakh appearing for the test across 255 centers in 126 cities. The examination was held in 45 shifts over 15 days.

However, the Tier-1 exam experienced a disruption at a Mumbai center due to a fire incident on September 26, 2025. As a result, a re-exam has been scheduled for the affected candidates from the Mumbai center on October 14, 2025. Besides the fire incident, the commission also addressed reports of technical disruptions during the exam.

The SSC received 18,920 submissions through the Candidate Feedback Portal, where candidates reported technical issues. These issues were cross-verified with digital footprints, and affected candidates were given an opportunity to reappear for the exam. Some candidates also had their exam date change requests accommodated.

In addition to rescheduling the exam for candidates affected by the Mumbai fire and technical difficulties, the SSC will also conduct re-exams on October 14, 2025, for candidates suspected of malpractice where the evidence is ambiguous. Candidates with clear evidence against them will be debarred from further opportunities. The commission also reported that some individuals were apprehended for producing fake PwBD (persons with benchmark disabilities) documents and attempting to misuse the provision for availing scribes. Cases of remote-access attempts were also detected and are currently under detailed analysis.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is expected to release the SSC CGL Answer Key 2025 on October 15, 2025, on its official website. Along with the answer key, the Tier 1 question paper will also be released, and a window to raise objections will be opened on the same day. Candidates can download the answer key and response sheet by logging in with their registration ID and password. If candidates find any discrepancies in the answer key, they can raise objections within a specified time duration by logging in to the official SSC website. A fee of ₹50 per question will be charged for challenging the answer key.

The SSC also took several measures to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination. Aadhaar authentication, including face verification, was implemented across centers. The exam was conducted in remote locations such as Kavaratti (Lakshadweep) and Leh. 93% of the candidates were scheduled in one of the cities they had selected. Laptop-based testing was piloted, providing greater flexibility in providing test centers and accommodating larger numbers.
