Veteran actor Annu Kapoor is facing severe backlash for his recent comments about actress Tamannaah Bhatia, while Salman Khan has addressed and seemingly put an end to his long-standing feud with singer Arijit Singh.
Annu Kapoor's "Dudhiya Badan" Comment Sparks Outrage
Annu Kapoor's remarks about Tamannaah Bhatia's physical appearance have ignited a firestorm of criticism on social media. During an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Kapoor was asked about his opinion on Tamannaah Bhatia and her performance in the song "Aaj Ki Raat". In response, Kapoor stated, "Mashallah kya dudhiya badan hai (Oh my god, what a milky body she has)". This comment, referring to Bhatia's skin complexion, was immediately deemed lewd, vulgar, and disrespectful by a large section of the online community.
Social media users have expressed their anger and disappointment, calling out Kapoor for his inappropriate language. Many have questioned his respect for women, with some asking if he would use similar language to describe his own daughter or granddaughters. One user wrote, "Was there humour in Anu Kapoor's words, or did he cross the line? That's something to think about. Every conversation should have the dignity of sensitivity and respect; a person becomes great through their thinking, not their age". Others directly condemned his words, with comments like "Ashleel hai ye (he is vulgar)".
Kapoor further added to the controversy by making a questionable remark about children falling asleep to Bhatia's song. Referencing Bhatia's comment about children falling asleep to her song 'Aaj Ki Raat', Kapoor replied, "Kitne umar ke baache so jaate hain 70 saal ke umar ka bhi bachca ho sakta hai na, main hota toh puchta ke kitne umar ke so jaate hain (What age of children fall asleep? Even a 70-year-old can be a child. In English, they call him a 70-year-old child... or an 11-year-old old man)". He went on to say, "Behen, apne gaane se, apne shareer se, apne dudhiya chehre se humare bachchon ko sulati hain… Desh ke liye ye achhi baat hai (Our sister is making kids sleep with her song, with her milky face and body, if she is making our children sleep sweetly, it's very good, man. It will be a great blessing for this country that our children get a good and healthy night's sleep)".
This is not the first time Tamannaah Bhatia has faced comments about being called 'Milky Beauty'. Earlier this year, she responded to a question about her casting in the supernatural thriller Ode 2, saying that glamour in a woman should be celebrated and that women should celebrate themselves so others will respect them.
Salman Khan Addresses Feud with Arijit Singh
In a contrasting turn of events, Salman Khan has publicly addressed his long-standing rift with singer Arijit Singh, stating that the two are now "good friends". The conflict, which began in 2014, stemmed from a misunderstanding during an awards ceremony. Singh, who was casually dressed, responded to Khan's onstage banter with a witty remark that Khan reportedly perceived as disrespectful.
The incident led to a strained relationship, with reports suggesting that Singh's songs were dropped from Khan's films. In 2016, Singh publicly apologized to Khan in a Facebook post, requesting that his song be retained in the film Sultan, though the message was later deleted.
However, the ice finally broke when Arijit Singh lent his voice to the song "Le Ke Prabhu Ka Naam" in Tiger 3. Speaking on Bigg Boss 19, Khan confirmed that the feud was over, stating that the misunderstanding was on his side. He further added that Arijit has sung for him in Tiger 3 and is also recording a song for his upcoming film, Battle of Galwan. "Arijit aur main bahut acche dost hai. Jo misunderstanding thi, meri side se thi," Khan said. (Arijit and I are very good friends. The misunderstanding that happened was on my side).
The reconciliation has been welcomed by fans, who are praising both Khan and Singh for moving past their differences.
