Lil Nas X Faces Assault Charges: Back in Court After Alleged Altercation with Police Officers.

Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Hill, appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday, November 17, 2025, in connection to charges of assaulting police officers. The appearance comes nearly three months after his arrest on August 21.

The 26-year-old Grammy winner entered the courtroom with a smile. His attorney, Drew Findling, told reporters that Lil Nas X is "doing amazing, doing great" and that they are "super happy for him". Findling added that they are looking forward to a positive resolution in the case. Lil Nas X's next court appearance is scheduled for March 12.

Lil Nas X was arrested after police responded to reports of a man walking nude on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City. According to a criminal complaint, the rapper allegedly used "force and violence" to inflict injury upon three police officers. He is also accused of attempting to deter a fourth officer from performing their duty through threats and violence.

The charges against Lil Nas X include three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, he could face up to five years in state prison.

The artist's legal team confirmed that he was receiving inpatient treatment abroad following his arrest. He did not appear at his last court hearing in September due to this treatment. Findling stated that they are doing what is best for Lil Nas X from a personal and professional standpoint, and most importantly, for his well-being. He emphasized that Lil Nas X has an amazing family and team supporting him.

Following his arrest in August, Lil Nas X described the experience as "terrifying" in a social media post. Los Angeles Police initially transported Hill to a nearby hospital for a possible overdose before his arrest.

During Monday's hearing, a judge signed a protective order covering the transfer of discovery materials in the criminal case. Lil Nas X's father, Robert Stafford, was present in court to support his son. He spoke to the media about the pressures facing the artist, noting the responsibility Hill feels as the "breadwinner" for multiple people and how celebrity breakdowns become a public spectacle.
