Effortless PF Balance Check: Know Your EPFO Funds via Missed Call or SMS - A Simple Guide
  • 800 views
  • 2 min read

Checking your Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) balance has become remarkably simple, thanks to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). EPF subscribers can now easily access their PF balance and recent contributions for free by just making a missed call or sending an SMS from their registered mobile number.

Key Requirements

Before using these convenient services, it's essential to ensure that your Universal Account Number (UAN) is linked with your Aadhaar, PAN, or bank account. Also, your mobile number must be activated with UAN at the unified portal.

Missed Call Method

The missed call service offers a straightforward way to check your PF balance. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Make sure your mobile number is linked to your UAN on the EPFO portal.
  2. Verify that your UAN is updated with any one of the following KYC details: Aadhaar, PAN, or a bank account.
  3. Give a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number.
  4. The call will automatically disconnect after a couple of rings, so you won't be charged.
  5. You'll then receive an SMS containing your latest PF contribution details and current balance.

SMS Method

Alternatively, you can check your PF details by sending an SMS. Here’s how:

  1. From your registered mobile number, send an SMS to 7738299899 in the following format: EPFOHO UAN.
  2. If you prefer to receive the message in a regional language, add the first three letters of your preferred language after UAN. For example, to receive the message in Telugu, send EPFOHO UAN TEL to 7738299899.

The SMS service supports multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali.

Important Points to Remember

  • Both the missed call and SMS services are free of charge.
  • Your mobile number must be linked with your UAN to use these services.
  • For the SMS service, your UAN must be active and linked with your bank account, Aadhaar number, and PAN.

Benefits of These Services

These tools provide an easy way to stay informed about your EPF account without needing to log in to the EPFO portal or visit an office. Whether you have a smartphone or a basic mobile phone, you can efficiently and safely check your EPF balance. Furthermore, EPFO has made it simpler to modify personal information online, such as your name and date of birth, without employer verification, and members with e-KYC EPF accounts can file transfer claims online with Aadhaar OTP, removing the need for employer interaction. By using the missed call or SMS service, you can effortlessly keep track of your PF account.
