Veteran actor Suniel Shetty is fiercely defending his son, Ahan Shetty, amidst what he describes as unfair targeting and negativity surrounding Ahan's involvement in the upcoming film Border 2. In a recent interview, Shetty revealed that Ahan, who is set to play a significant role in the highly anticipated war drama, has been subjected to a barrage of negative press and fabricated rumors, allegedly orchestrated by rival producers.
Suniel Shetty, known for his unwavering support for his children, expressed his anger and disappointment at the attempts to tarnish Ahan's reputation. He stated that Ahan had dedicated himself wholeheartedly to Border 2, even passing up other opportunities, only to be met with "paid articles" and false narratives designed to undermine his position in the film. According to Shetty, these stories included claims about Ahan demanding expensive bodyguards and creating ego clashes on set – all of which the actor vehemently denies.
"Ahan let go a lot of things for this film. Bohot saari cheezein uske haath se nikal gayi egos k chakkar mein. He was removed from films and then blamed. Rumours were spread that he comes with expensive bodyguards, paid articles were published," Suniel Shetty stated. He further revealed that these "stories were made up because Ahaan wanted to do Border and people wanted their films to be made. All this was manipulated."
The original Border, released in 1997, holds a special place in Suniel Shetty's heart. He played the character of Captain Bhairon Singh in the J.P. Dutta directorial, which has become a classic in Indian cinema. While Suniel Shetty isn't part of Border 2, he is happy that his son is carrying forward the legacy. "If Bhairon Singh is not there, at least little Ahan will be there," he said.
Border 2 boasts a star-studded cast, including Sunny Deol, who returns to reprise his role from the original, along with Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh. The film is directed by Anurag Singh and is slated for release on January 23, 2026.
Shetty issued a stern warning to those responsible for spreading the negativity, vowing to expose them if the attacks against his son continue. "If this escalates further, I will hold a press conference and expose everyone. Jinki dhajjiyan udani hai uda dunga," he asserted, indicating his readiness to fight back against what he perceives as a deliberate smear campaign against Ahan.
Suniel Shetty's strong reaction highlights the intense competition and behind-the-scenes maneuvering that can occur in the Bollywood film industry. His defense of Ahan also underscores the deep bond between father and son, and his determination to protect his family from what he views as unjust treatment.
Ahan, on the other hand, seems to be taking the controversy in stride, focusing on his work and building relationships with his co-stars. Suniel Shetty proudly mentioned that Ahan speaks highly of Varun Dhawan, who has apparently taken him under his wing.
The film, produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, promises to be a grand cinematic spectacle filled with action, drama, and patriotism.
