A video has surfaced showing a woman sitting on the roof of a moving Mahindra Thar SUV on a flyover near IFFCO Chowk in Gurugram, India, and Gurugram Police have launched an investigation. The woman was seen dangling her feet over the front windshield while seemingly recording herself. The video quickly went viral on social media, drawing the attention of the authorities.
Gurugram Police have confirmed that they have identified all individuals involved in the dangerous stunt and are working to locate them and take legal action. Sandeep Kumar, a Police Spokesperson for Gurugram, stated that the police are investigating the matter and that legal action will be taken. He also appealed to the public to refrain from performing stunts on roads, especially on highways and expressways.
This incident follows a pattern of similar reckless behavior in Gurugram. In another recent incident, a video circulated showing two SUVs performing dangerous stunts on the Gurugram-Sohna road. Drivers of a Thar and a Scorpio were seen spinning their vehicles dangerously, causing a cyclist to brake suddenly to avoid being hit. Police initiated an investigation into that incident as well.
In July 2024, another incident involving a Thar occurred in Gurugram when a woman driving the SUV collided with another car and ended up with the Thar precariously perched on a roadside pole. The incident, which took place on Golf Course Road Extension, involved a collision between the Thar, driven by a woman named Aanchal Gupta, and a Honda Amaze. Gupta reportedly lost control after the collision and crashed into the pole. Fortunately, she was able to safely exit the vehicle.
These incidents highlight a growing concern about reckless behavior and stunt performances on Gurugram roads. Authorities are increasingly cracking down on such activities to ensure public safety. Recently, Gurugram Police booked individuals involved in unauthorized shoots that involved vehicles using illegal sirens and initiated action to seize the vehicles. Prior to that, a group of men were filmed performing stunts on modified tractors in CyberHub, allegedly to create social media videos, damaging traffic bollards and speeding through the area.
