Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur's upcoming film, "Dacoit," is generating significant buzz, and fans are eagerly awaiting the release of its first glimpse. According to recent announcements, the first glimpse will be unveiled on Monday, May 26th.
"Dacoit" marks the directorial debut of Shaneil Deo, who has previously worked as a cinematographer on notable films like "Krishna and His Leela" and "Goodachari," the latter of which also starred Adivi Sesh. Notably, Sesh and Shaneil have co-written the script, adding another layer of collaboration to their partnership.
The film is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and Suniel Narang, with Annapurna Studios presenting. The music is being composed by Bheems Ceciroleo. Sony Music has acquired the music rights for a substantial sum, approximately 8 Cr for Telugu and Hindi audio rights, marking a significant deal for Adivi Sesh.
Initially, Shruti Haasan was cast as the female lead opposite Adivi Sesh, and a brief teaser featuring the pair was even released. However, Shruti Haasan exited the project due to creative differences. Reports suggest that she was uncomfortable with her co-star's over-involvement in the script. Mrunal Thakur has since stepped into the role.
Anurag Kashyap is also part of the cast, making his Telugu acting debut with "Dacoit." He will be portraying a powerful and witty police inspector.
The film is touted as an action thriller revolving around two former lovers who reunite to carry out a series of daring robberies and heists. The narrative promises a gripping storyline filled with twists and turns.
There are speculations that "Dacoit" might hit theaters on December 25, 2025, coinciding with Christmas. However, the filmmakers are yet to make an official confirmation. The film is planned for a pan-Indian release, including Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages.
Adivi Sesh was recently seen in a cameo appearance in "HIT 3," while Mrunal Thakur made a special appearance in Nag Ashwin's "Kalki 2898 AD," which released last year. Adivi Sesh's other upcoming project is "G2," the sequel to his 2018 film "Goodachari." Wamiqa Gabbi has replaced Sobhita Dhulipala as the female lead in "G2".
