On June 3, 2025, actor Gurmeet Choudhary and his wife, Debina Bonnerjee, experienced a theft at their Mumbai residence. A newly hired domestic worker made off with some items from their home before being apprehended.
Gurmeet took to social media to share the incident with his fans, posting a message to alert everyone about the importance of verifying the backgrounds of individuals they employ. He wrote, "Alert. Today, a new worker stole some items from our home and ran away. Thankfully, we always verify anyone who comes to work, so we could act quickly."
The actor also expressed his relief that his children, Lianna and Divisha, were safe during the incident. "I'm especially grateful I was home, and my babies were safe in their room," he stated.
Fortunately, due to their quick action and diligence in verifying the worker's information, Gurmeet and Debina were able to recover most of the stolen items. "With prompt action and a few calls, we recovered most of the items - and most importantly, everyone is safe," Gurmeet shared. He also used the opportunity to remind his followers to "Stay alert. Always verify anyone who enters your home for work."
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of caution and vigilance when hiring household staff. Gurmeet's proactive approach in verifying the worker's background allowed him and his family to act swiftly and prevent further loss.
This incident is not isolated, as there have been other recent cases of celebrities experiencing security breaches. Saif Ali Khan's home was recently intruded upon, and Aditya Roy Kapur had a woman forcibly enter his residence. Salman Khan has also faced security threats, highlighting the increasing vulnerability of celebrities to such incidents.
Just hours before sharing news of the robbery, Gurmeet and Debina had posted pictures with their daughters, Lianna and Divisha, with the caption, "Tiny hands. Big hearts. Full life." The couple is also reportedly set to participate in the upcoming reality show, Pati Patni Aur Panga.
