The upcoming KISS biopic, "Shout It Out Loud," has reportedly found its Paul Stanley in Nick Jonas. According to recent reports, the Jonas Brothers singer is in final negotiations to portray the Starchild, KISS's lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, in the film. The movie, directed by McG, will chronicle the formation of the iconic rock band in the early 1970s New York City rock scene.

The film is expected to begin production either at the end of 2025 or in early 2026. The latest draft of the screenplay is written by Darren Lemke, known for his work on films like "Shazam!" and "Kung Fu Panda 4." The movie is being financed by STX Entertainment.

Nick Jonas will reportedly be doing his own singing in the film, requiring him to undergo vocal training to replicate Stanley's signature "jet-engine vocals." This casting choice might come as a surprise to some, but Jonas has a strong background in musical theatre, having appeared in Broadway productions such as "Les Misérables," "Hairspray," and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." He also played Frankie Valli in "Jersey Boys Live". Beyond his musical talents, Jonas has showcased his acting abilities in films like "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" and the TV series "Kingdom."

"Shout It Out Loud" will delve into Paul Stanley's personal journey, highlighting his transformation from an insecure teenager into a rock icon. Stanley has spoken about his challenges growing up, including being deaf in one ear and having a facial deformity. He once said, "I was deaf in one ear and had a slight deformity that made me look different. I was this short, fat kid, and music became my salvation, a place to hide and dream. And when I played music, there were always girls around." The film will also depict how Stanley partnered with Gene Simmons to form KISS, along with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.

The search for the actor to play Gene Simmons is reportedly still underway. Stanley and Simmons, along with KISS manager Doc McGhee, are co-producers on the film. In a 2021 interview, Stanley mentioned he would be involved in the casting process.

KISS, known for their theatrical glam-rock style, face paint, and onstage antics, retired after their final performance in New York City in December 2023. The band's worldwide tour that started in January 2019 consisted of Stanley, Simmons, Tommy Thayer, and Eric Singer.
