A honeymoon trip turned into a nightmare for a newly married couple when a tragic incident occurred at Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday, June 6, 2025. Urakonda Sai, a 28-year-old from Warangal, lost his life while attempting to board a moving train en route to Goa with his wife, relatives, and friends.
The group was scheduled to travel on the Vasco-da-Gama Express. Reports indicate that the train's departure was delayed, prompting Sai to step off the train to purchase a water bottle. However, before he could return, the train began to move.
Witness accounts state that Sai's friends desperately pulled the emergency chain in an attempt to halt the train and allow him to reboard. Railway Police personnel responded, detaining two of Sai's companions for allegedly misusing the emergency chain. They were asked to disembark and pay a fine. Despite the group's pleas and assurances that they would pay the penalty, the situation caused further delays.
With his wife and brother-in-law still on board, and the train beginning to move again, Sai was left with no choice but to try and catch the moving train. In a tragic turn of events, he slipped while running alongside the coach and fell into the gap between the train and the platform. He sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Sai had been married just three months prior to this ill-fated trip and was eagerly anticipating his honeymoon. His sudden demise has plunged his family and friends into deep sorrow.
Family members have alleged that the actions of the Railway Police directly contributed to the tragedy. They claim that the delay caused by the detention of Sai's friends prevented him from reboarding the train safely. They are demanding a full investigation into the incident and are calling for accountability from the authorities.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident. However, the tragedy has ignited public outrage, raising concerns about railway safety protocols and the need for a more compassionate and prompt response to emergencies at railway stations. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of attempting to board a moving train and highlights the importance of adhering to safety regulations. Further investigations are underway.
