Scarlett Johansson is headlining the upcoming film, Jurassic World Rebirth, alongside Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali. The film is slated to release in theaters on July 2, 2025, marking a new chapter in the Jurassic Park franchise.
Johansson will be playing Zora Bennett, a covert operations expert, who is contracted to locate dinosaurs and secure DNA samples for a potentially world-changing medical breakthrough. Bailey will be playing Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist, who will have his mettle tested in an environment he is likely unprepared for. Ali will be playing Duncan Kincaid, a man who knows how to get people and things out of places they shouldn't be.
Set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, Jurassic World Rebirth sees the planet's ecology largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. The remaining dinosaurs exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling those in which they once thrived. The DNA of the three most colossal creatures across land, sea, and air within that tropical biosphere holds the key to a drug that could bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.
Zora's team intersects with a civilian family whose boating expedition was capsized by marauding aquatic dinos, and they all find themselves stranded on an island that once housed a research facility for the original Jurassic Park. This island was where the worst of the worst dinosaurs were kept, the dinosaurs who were too dangerous to expose to the public.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, Jurassic World Rebirth promises a back-to-basics approach for the franchise, focusing on a more specific story and a smaller group of characters. The film also stars Rupert Friend, Ed Skrein, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, and Bechir Sylvain.
A new image from Jurassic World Rebirth shows Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey's characters tampering with dinosaur eggs. In the trailer, Loomis explains that the island was the research facility for the original Jurassic Park, where the worst of the worst dinosaurs were kept. The team needs DNA from the three biggest dinosaurs. The trailer also shows the team encountering a Mosasaur and raptors.
