In the 1998 election, which followed the Coimbatore bombings, he won by a significant margin of over 150,000 votes, and in 1999, he secured his seat by a margin of 50,000 votes. During his terms as a Member of Parliament, Radhakrishnan served on several committees, including the Committee on Commerce, the Committee on Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme, and the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Finance. Furthermore, he was part of the parliamentary delegation that addressed the UN General Assembly in 2004.
Radhakrishnan has also held significant positions within the BJP. He served as the Tamil Nadu BJP State President from 2004 to 2007. During his presidency, he undertook a 93-day "Ratha Yatra" covering 19,000 km to advocate for the linking of Indian rivers, the eradication of untouchability, and campaigning against terrorism.
