Netflix's "Rana Naidu" is gearing up for its second season, and Rana Daggubati is offering some insights into what viewers can expect. The action crime drama, which also stars Venkatesh Daggubati, is set to premiere on June 13, 2025, promising a more intense and personal storyline.
According to Rana Daggubati, Season 2 delves deeper into the family dynamics and emotional turmoil of the Naidu family. Picking up where the first season left off, the new season revolves around the "dysfunctional family trying to get functional and see if normal order can come in their life but the past catches up," Daggubati explains. This time around, the stakes are higher, and the story is more personal, suggesting a more intimate exploration of the characters and their relationships. The fixer is back, and this time, his own family is at stake.
In an interview, Rana drew parallels between his character as a fixer and his real-life experiences as a producer, even calling the show a dark biopic of his life. He noted that working in the entertainment industry in India, with its unstructured style and multiple languages, requires a person to be fluid and constantly fix things. This mirrors his character's role in the show.
Kriti Kharbanda, who joins the cast in Season 2, expressed her excitement about portraying a character that is different from her previous roles. She said she couldn't sleep the night before her first day of shooting because she was so excited.
The trailer for Season 2 shows Rana's character attempting to leave the world of violence to secure his family's future. However, he soon finds himself entangled in conflicts with his loved ones and a ruthless underworld figure from his past, played by Arjun Rampal. Rampal's character, Rauf, adds to the already complex situation. The season promises gripping twists, dark humor, and high-stakes drama.
The series is directed by Karan Anshuman, with Suparn S. Varma and Abhay Chopra also serving as directors. Anshuman mentioned that this season is unfiltered and chaotic, with Rana laser-focused on protecting his family. Producer Sunder Aaron said that they are thrilled to return to the gritty, high-voltage world of Rana Naidu for Season 2.
Rana Naidu Season 2 will feature higher stakes and adrenaline-fueled confrontations. Alongside Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh, the cast includes Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, and Abhishek Banerjee.
