Sophie Turner recently shared a surprising anecdote about how a simple wave at a San Diego Comic-Con afterparty inadvertently led to the end of a celebrity engagement. During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Game of Thrones star recounted the bizarre series of events that unfolded one evening many years ago.

Turner, 29, explained that she attended the Comic-Con afterparty with a childhood friend. Her friend was a huge fan of a particular actor at the party and asked Turner if she would simply wave hello to him. Turner, not knowing the actor, obliged with a quick wave. "That was it," she emphasized to Meyers.

Later in the evening, Turner noticed a well-known actress looking at her. Wanting to express her admiration, Turner approached the actress. However, before she could compliment the actress, she was met with an unexpected accusation. As Turner recalls, the actress confronted her, asking, "Can you stop f***ing flirting with my fiancé?".

Taken aback, Turner asked the actress who her fiancé was. The actress pointed to the same actor Turner had waved at earlier. Turner was completely dumbfounded. "I have no idea who this man is," Turner told Meyers.

The story took an even more unexpected turn when Turner learned that the couple broke off their engagement that very night. "Turns out, they broke their engagement off that night because of my [wave]," Turner revealed. She jokingly added, "I didn't realize I held this power".

Turner refrained from revealing the names of the celebrities involved, stating that she would "get in trouble" if she did. The Dark Phoenix actress did not disclose exactly when this incident occurred, but it was at a San Diego Comic-Con party from several years ago.

While the circumstances were undoubtedly awkward for Turner, some have speculated that the relationship was already unstable if a simple wave could lead to its demise.
