Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood star Govinda, has recently made headlines with her candid remarks about her husband's career choices and the people surrounding him. In a series of interviews, Sunita has openly criticized Govinda's professional decisions, expressing her belief that he is "wasting time" and not evolving with the changing landscape of the entertainment industry.
Sunita's most significant concern revolves around what she describes as Govinda's "wrong circle." She claims that the people he surrounds himself with – a writer, musician, secretary, and lawyer – are sycophants who offer only praise and prevent him from receiving honest feedback. According to Sunita, these individuals reinforce Govinda's outdated strategies and discourage him from adapting to modern platforms like Netflix and evolving storytelling trends. She believes their constant flattery, offering insincere "wah, wah!" to everything he does, ultimately harms his career.
"Why has Govinda not been seen in 17 years? The problem is that his circle is the wrong one," Sunita stated in an interview. She further elaborated that her own disagreements with Govinda often stem from her inability to lie and her aversion to flattery. Unlike those in his inner circle, Sunita says she is not afraid to tell him the truth, even if it upsets him.
Sunita has also pointed out Govinda's reluctance to embrace new trends in the entertainment industry. She has urged him to recognize that the "90s era is over" and to explore opportunities in the digital space. "Look at what's working on Netflix and digital platforms," she has advised, but Govinda reportedly remains resistant, preferring to stick with his familiar "wah, wah production." She believes that Govinda is still trying to replicate the success formula of his heyday, rather than evolving with the industry.
Adding to her concerns, Sunita revealed that many individuals were jealous of Govinda's success during his peak and attempted to sabotage his career by denying him opportunities. She stated that he didn't get a platform to release his movies and stopped getting good directors. She feels that Govinda, discouraged by these experiences, has "run away from the industry." However, she also mentioned that he is now trying to make his own movies but is not open to making movies that go with the current generation.
Sunita's outspokenness has sparked discussions about the challenges faced by established actors in adapting to changing industry dynamics. She emphasized that Govinda needs solid scripts, a great director, and a team that isn't afraid to tell him the truth. She has also stated that Govinda is wasting his life because the people around him are misguiding him.
Despite her criticisms, Sunita's remarks appear to stem from a place of love and concern for her husband's well-being and career. She believes that Govinda is a "legendary actor" who deserves to be in a better environment, surrounded by people who can help him grow professionally. She acknowledged that actors of his age, including Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, and Jackie Shroff, are still doing good work and urged Govinda to follow suit.
