Ajay Devgn has officially unveiled the first look poster for his highly anticipated film, Son of Sardaar 2. The poster, revealed on Thursday, June 19, 2025, features Devgn in a striking Sardar avatar, complete with a vibrant turban and a commanding presence. The film is slated to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
In the poster, Ajay Devgn is seen sporting a colorful turban, twirling his mustache. This look signals Devgn's return to comedy after a considerable period. The film serves as a sequel to the 2012 hit action-comedy Son of Sardaar, which also starred Sonakshi Sinha.
"#SOS2 in cinemas near you on 25th July. #SardaarIsBack #SonOfSardaar2 (sic)," Devgn shared on Instagram, also tagging Mrunal Thakur, who stars alongside him in the film.
Son of Sardaar 2 is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, marking his return to the franchise after almost 12 years. The film is produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, N R Pachisia and Pravin Talreja, with Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and T-Series backing the project. It promises a mix of action, comedy, and emotional drama.
Mrunal Thakur is set to play a key role in the film, replacing Sonakshi Sinha from the original. Other cast members include Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Mishra. Sanjay Dutt will be reprising a Don type role, similar to his character in the original. Sanjay Mishra will be stepping in for Vijay Raaz, who was initially intended for the role.
Principal photography for Son of Sardaar 2 commenced in July 2024, with filming locations spanning Edinburgh, London, and Chandigarh, India. The film will also be the posthumous film of Mukul Dev.
Reportedly, Ajay Devgn will be seen doing stunts with tanks in the movie.
The music for Son of Sardaar 2 will be composed by Jaani, replacing Himesh Reshammiya, who composed the music for the first film.
Son of Sardaar 2 is expected to clash at the box office with Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's film Param Sundari, produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Tushar Jalota.
Alongside Son of Sardaar 2, Ajay Devgn has several other projects in the pipeline, including Raid 2, De De Pyaar De 2, and Dhamaal 4. He is also expected to begin filming for Drishyam 3 in August 2025, with both the Hindi and Malayalam versions being shot simultaneously.
