The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme continues to be a vital source of financial support for farmers across India. As the 20th installment approaches in June 2025, it's crucial for beneficiaries to ensure they have completed all necessary requirements, including Aadhaar-based OTP e-KYC, to receive their funds without delay.

Under the PM-Kisan Yojana, eligible farmers receive ₹6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months. This direct benefit transfer (DBT) aims to support farmers in their agricultural activities and domestic needs. With the 19th installment already released in February 2025, anticipation is building for the 20th installment. Media reports suggest that the 20th installment is expected to be credited around June 20, 2025, but official confirmation from the government is still awaited.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the PM-Kisan scheme, farmers must meet specific criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of India.
  • Own cultivable land with valid land records.
  • Must have their Aadhaar number linked to their bank account.
  • Must complete e-KYC verification.

It’s important to note that certain categories are excluded from the scheme, including income tax payers, pensioners receiving over ₹10,000 monthly, government employees, professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineers, and institutional landholders. The scheme defines a family as husband, wife, and minor children (under 18 years of age).

Completing Aadhaar-Based OTP e-KYC: A Step-by-Step Guide

Completing the e-KYC process is mandatory to receive PM-Kisan installments. Payments may be withheld if e-KYC is not completed. Here’s how to complete Aadhaar-based OTP e-KYC online:

  1. Visit the Official PM-Kisan Portal: Go to pmkisan.gov.in.
  2. Navigate to e-KYC: Find and click on the “e-KYC” option usually located in the 'Farmers Corner'.
  3. Enter Aadhaar Number: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number in the designated field and click on “Search.”
  4. OTP Verification: You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. Enter this OTP on the portal to authenticate.
  5. Completion: Upon successful OTP verification, your e-KYC will be completed.

Alternatively, farmers can complete e-KYC offline by visiting the nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) and providing their Aadhaar and biometric authentication.

Checking Beneficiary Status

Farmers can check their beneficiary status on the PM-Kisan portal by navigating to the "Beneficiary Status" section under the "Farmers Corner" and entering their Aadhaar number or account number.

Required Documents

To ensure smooth processing of the 20th installment, farmers should keep the following documents ready:

  • Aadhaar Card: Essential for e-KYC and linking with your bank account.
  • Bank Account Details: An active account with the correct account number and IFSC code, linked with Aadhaar.
  • Land Ownership Proof: Valid land records to confirm eligibility.
  • Identity/Address Proof: Such as Voter ID or PAN card.
  • Mobile Number Linked to Aadhaar: For OTP-based e-KYC.

Conclusion

The PM-Kisan scheme is a significant initiative by the Indian government to provide financial assistance to farmers. The 20th installment is expected soon, and it is crucial for farmers to complete their e-KYC and ensure all their documents are up-to-date. By completing these necessary steps, farmers can ensure they receive the financial support they are entitled to, contributing to their economic well-being and the growth of the agricultural sector.
