Raj Kundra recently opened up about what he describes as the "darkest times" of his life, referring to his experience in jail following his arrest in July 2021. He was arrested concerning allegations of producing and distributing adult content via a mobile app. Kundra spent 63 days in Arthur Road Jail before being granted bail in September 2021. Reflecting on that period, he shared the profound emotional and psychological impact it had on him.

According to reports from June 20, 2025, Kundra described his time in jail as filled with "anger, hurt, and confusion," but also a period of "deep self-reflection." He acknowledged that he could have allowed that chapter to define him, but instead, he chose to learn from it. Kundra stated that he has made peace with the situation and is now focused on moving forward with "clarity, creativity, and courage."

One of the most poignant aspects of Kundra's reflection is the impact the controversy had on his relationships. He revealed that "some friendships vanished overnight," while others grew stronger. The most significant pain, he said, came from "watching my loved ones suffer because of my headlines." This guilt, he admits, stays with him. However, he also expressed immense gratitude for the "love they gave me during that storm," which he credits with saving him. He emphasized the importance of recognizing one's true support system and never taking them for granted.

Central to Kundra's ability to navigate this challenging period was the unwavering support of his wife, actress Shilpa Shetty. He expressed deep appreciation for her resilience and grace, noting that she "stood by me even when it would've been easier to walk away." He also mentioned how his children gave him a reason to smile when he felt like disappearing, emphasizing that such unconditional support "rewires your soul."

In previous interviews, Kundra has spoken about the humiliation he faced during his time in jail, including being stripped and searched, which he described as a loss of dignity. He also detailed the overcrowded living conditions, sharing that he was housed in a common barrack with 250 other prisoners in a space meant for only 50. Despite these hardships, Kundra has maintained that he received no special treatment and experienced the same conditions as other inmates.

Kundra's legal battles are ongoing. While he is currently out on bail, the case remains under trial. Additionally, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating him for alleged money laundering and has reportedly attached assets worth approximately Rs 98 crore. In April 2025, Kundra filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking to quash the Look-Out Circular (LOC) issued against him in connection with the 2021 pornography case. He is also seeking a temporary suspension of the LOC while the court considers his petition.

Despite the ongoing legal challenges, Kundra is venturing into acting, with his recent appearance on the reality show The Traitors. He has also expressed a desire to focus on telling meaningful stories rather than chasing fame. Kundra has also addressed the media's portrayal of his situation, expressing frustration over what he calls "trial by media." He has urged the media to be more responsible in their reporting and to avoid involving his family in his personal challenges. He has specifically called out instances where his wife, Shilpa Shetty, is dragged into the controversy unnecessarily, stating that it is unfair to tarnish her reputation for the sake of clickbait. He maintains that his wife has "nothing to do with this."

Kundra's journey through this difficult period has been marked by resilience, introspection, and a deep appreciation for the support of his family. Despite the challenges, he remains focused on moving forward with courage and creativity.
