Johnny Depp, the celebrated actor with a career spanning over four decades, recently shared his perspective on fame, asserting that it was "the last thing I ever chased." In an interview with The Sunday Times this week, the 62-year-old star reflected on his journey in Hollywood, emphasizing that his primary focus was never on achieving celebrity status or pandering to public opinion.

Depp, known for his iconic roles in films like "Edward Scissorhands" and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, stated, "If you look at the 9,000 years that I've been doing this s**t, it's pretty clear that I wasn't ever thinking how I could be more famous, make a hit or please the press." He acknowledged that fame is an "occupational hazard" of his profession.

Depp's comments come at a time when his personal life has been under intense scrutiny, particularly following his highly publicized legal battles with his ex-wife, Amber Heard. While the actor has faced both professional and personal challenges, he maintains that his motivation has always been rooted in his craft rather than the pursuit of recognition.

He also touched upon his childhood and complicated family life in the interview. Depp grew up with three siblings, and his parents' divorce during his teenage years significantly impacted the family dynamics. As his siblings got married, Depp found himself navigating the shifting roles within the family while simultaneously dealing with his rising fame.

In the interview, Depp also alluded to the difficulties of maintaining a normal life under the constant glare of the spotlight. He expressed that going out in public often causes a stir, making it challenging to live a life of normalcy. Despite the isolation that fame can bring, Depp stated, "I can be isolated and happier than a clam. But I don't get out much." He also mentioned that he spends his time "watching weird sh*t on YouTube." He jokingly added, "I'm stuck with my thoughts; just thinking, writing or watching weird shit on YouTube. It can't be healthy."

Depp's candid remarks offer a glimpse into the mindset of an actor who has experienced both the highs and lows of fame. While he acknowledges the privileges that come with his success, he also highlights the challenges of living under constant public scrutiny. His comments suggest a desire to remain true to his artistic vision, regardless of the external pressures and expectations that come with being a Hollywood icon.
