Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is set to address critical issues concerning the state at the 25th Central Regional Council meeting in Varanasi on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. The meeting, chaired by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, will gather chief ministers and top officials from several states to discuss regional security, development, health, administrative coordination, and state-specific concerns.

Dhami has been actively preparing for the council meeting. He emphasized the importance of the Central Regional Council as a robust platform for discussions and sharing experiences on topics of similar nature, while also strengthening contact and cooperation between the Centre and the states. He has directed officials to formulate concrete and innovative proposals that align with the spirit of "coordination of ecology and economy," aiming to give new impetus to the overall, sustainable, and balanced development of Uttarakhand.

Ahead of the meeting, Chief Minister Dhami has also been focusing on key welfare initiatives within Uttarakhand. He recently reviewed preparations related to child nutrition and the Ayushman Yojana, stressing the need for proper nutrition, health services, and mental development for children. He directed the Women and Child Development Department to regularly review cases of malnutrition and anemia, implement campaigns to improve children's conditions, and strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of these efforts at the district level. Dhami has also mandated Ayushman Yojana registration in all government hospitals, ensuring that every citizen of the state can benefit from the scheme.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister has been proactive in approving infrastructure projects across the state. He recently sanctioned funds for various projects in Nainital and Rudraprayag districts, including the construction of motor roads and bridges, and road safety work. These projects aim to improve connectivity and infrastructure, contributing to the overall development of the region.

The Central Zonal Council aims to strengthen cooperation among states, resolve inter-state disputes through dialogue, deliberate on matters of common interest, ensure equitable utilization of natural resources, and promote developmental activities in sensitive regions. The upcoming meeting is expected to play a vital role in fostering collaboration and addressing the pressing issues in the region. The meeting will be attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, along with Chief Secretaries of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh, representatives from NITI Aayog, members of the Inter-State Council, and other senior officials.
