Deepak Kumar Mishra, the director of the acclaimed web series "Panchayat," is set to direct the upcoming film "Vvan," produced by Balaji Telefilms Ltd and The Viral Fever (TVF). The film stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead roles. "Vvan" marks TVF's first venture into feature films, creating significant buzz and anticipation.

The collaboration between Balaji Telefilms and TVF is a first, with "Vvan" being the maiden project born from this partnership. The film is touted to be a unique cinematic experience, blending a high-content story with a backdrop rooted in Indian folklore. Specifically, the film is reportedly taking inspiration from the legend of Kerala's Iringole Kavu.

Rumors recently surfaced that Deepak Kumar Mishra had been removed from "Vvan" due to creative differences with Sidharth Malhotra. However, Mishra has refuted these claims, stating that there is no truth to the reports and that he and Malhotra are working well together on the film. He clarified that the rumors were "100% false". The speculation arose from a report suggesting disagreements during the film's pre-production phase.

"Vvan" has already completed its first shooting schedule in June, with the second schedule expected to commence in August. The film is slated for release on May 15, 2026. Initially, the film was expected to be released during Chhath Puja in 2025.

Deepak Kumar Mishra is known for his work in the digital space, directing popular series such as "Permanent Roommates," "Barely Speaking with Arnub," and the award-winning "Panchayat". "Panchayat" has garnered significant acclaim for its authentic portrayal of rural life, blending humor and emotional depth. Mishra has also expressed interest in creating a "village cinematic universe," potentially including other village-themed productions.

Sidharth Malhotra has recently wrapped up shooting for a romantic comedy, "Param Sundari," co-starring Janhvi Kapoor.

The collaboration of Balaji Telefilms, TVF, Deepak Kumar Mishra, and Sidharth Malhotra for "Vvan" has generated considerable excitement within the industry. The film promises a unique cinematic experience rooted in Indian folklore, with a blend of drama and emotion.
