In a horrifying incident in the Latur district of Maharashtra, a man allegedly strangled his four-year-old daughter to death after she asked him for money to buy chocolate. The accused, identified as Balaji Rathod, has been arrested and charged with murder.
According to police reports, Balaji Rathod was heavily addicted to alcohol, which led to frequent disputes within his family. His wife had left him and was staying with her father due to the ongoing issues. On the afternoon of the incident, Rathod's daughter, Aarushi, requested money from him to buy chocolate. Enraged by her demand, Rathod allegedly strangled her to death using a saree.
After the incident, the police arrested Balaji Rathod. Rathod's wife, Varsha, has demanded capital punishment for her husband. The accused is a resident of Bhima Tanda in Udgir taluka of Latur district. Police registered an FIR based on the complaint lodged by his wife, and further investigations are underway.
This is not an isolated incident. In a similar case from 2019, a man in the same state, also an alcoholic, strangled his one-year-old daughter because he was irritated by her constant crying. Such incidents highlight the devastating impact of alcohol addiction on families and the vulnerable.
