Vikrant Massey is hoping to win a National Award for his performance in "12th Fail". Massey has expressed his aspirations to receive the prestigious honor, stating that he has always wanted a National Award since he was a child. He sees it as the greatest achievement an actor in India can attain, especially being presented with the award by the President of the country.
Massey's role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's "12th Fail" has garnered critical acclaim, positioning him as a strong contender for the National Film Award. He is celebrated for his ability to choose engaging scripts and deliver powerful performances, establishing himself as a credible actor in Bollywood.
The actor conveyed his hopes for "12th Fail" to win awards, including recognition for Vidhu Vinod Chopra's direction and his own performance. "I hope it does. And I'm sorry, without cost of sounding pompous, and with utmost humility. I hope it does. I hope the film wins an award. I hope Vidhu Vinod Chopra wins an award. I hope I win an award," Massey said.
While acknowledging the buzz surrounding his potential National Award win, Massey remains humble. He recognizes the outstanding performances of his peers in the industry and feels honored to be considered alongside them. "To be considered [for the award] in an annual year where many performances stood out and were respected, and people really thought of these performances as good performances... I think I'm already in a good club so I'm happy about that," he stated. Massey also added, "As much as people are talking about me winning the National Award, there were some incredible performances last year. What Vicky (Kaushal) did in Sam Bahadur was phenomenal. What Fahadh (Faasil) did in Aavesham was as good as what Prithviraj did in Goat Life. I am glad to be considered with such fine actors".
Massey doesn't chase mainstream validation, but instead chooses roles that challenge him, adding depth to characters that could easily be overlooked. The National Film Awards celebrate excellence in Indian cinema, and Massey's performance in '12th Fail' is nothing short of that. The award isn't about box office numbers or commercial viability—it's about honoring actors who bring characters to life with depth and sincerity.
In addition to his aspirations for the National Award, Vikrant Massey is preparing for his role in the upcoming film "White," where he will portray Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He expressed feeling nervous yet honored about the opportunity, describing it as "God-sent". Shooting for "White" is scheduled to commence in August.
