Kajol recently shared insights into her working relationship with her husband, Ajay Devgn, particularly during the making of their latest project, the mythological horror film "Maa". While promoting the film, Kajol revealed that disagreements on set are not uncommon, but they have developed their own way of handling them.

Kajol described their approach as "uncivilized," explaining that they don't shy away from calling each other out if one of them is "going over the top". In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, she stated, "We do talk about the rules of engagement at work. 90% of the time, if he is going over the top, I just call him out on it, and he calls me out on it. We are not civilised, and we will not take it to the corner". She also humorously mentioned that these instances are rare since they don't frequently work together, estimating it happens about once every five years. "So when it does happen, it is pretty much out there and a 'free for all' kind of thing," Kajol added with a laugh.

Despite these disagreements, Kajol emphasized that they don't engage in loud arguments or cross any personal boundaries. She also mentioned that she tries to maintain a polite and professional demeanor on set, believing it fosters a better working environment. "I am much humbler on sets than otherwise," she said, adding that being polite helps create a better working environment.

In a lighter vein, during a promotional event for "Maa," Kajol playfully quipped that Ajay, who co-produced the film, "harassed" her on set. However, she quickly clarified that he was a "wonderful producer". She praised Ajay's hands-on involvement in the film, from the script to the music and VFX. According to Kajol, Ajay paid close attention to every detail, especially the VFX, which she considers a crucial aspect of the film.

"Maa" marks Kajol's first foray into the horror genre and her return to theaters after a three-year hiatus. The film is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Ajay Devgn, Jyoti Deshpande, and Kumar Mangat Pathak. It tells the story of a mother who confronts supernatural forces to protect her daughter from a deadly curse in a haunted village. The film is said to be part of the "Shaitaan universe".

Ajay Devgn also expressed his admiration for Kajol, acknowledging her ability to manage diverse roles both on and off-screen. He complimented her for effortlessly portraying a wife, mother, and friend, while also managing her professional responsibilities.

"Maa" was released in theaters on June 27, 2025, and has received a positive response at the box office.
