The highly anticipated "Hera Pheri 3" faced a significant hurdle when Paresh Rawal, the iconic Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, initially exited the project, leaving fans disheartened. However, recent reports confirm Rawal's return, reuniting the beloved trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has revealed the behind-the-scenes efforts, particularly those of Sajid Nadiadwala, in bringing the team back together.
Paresh Rawal's initial departure in May 2025 stemmed from creative differences. This led to uncertainty and legal complications, with Akshay Kumar's production company reportedly suing Rawal for ₹25 crore for "sabotaging" the film after he allegedly quit abruptly after taking a signing amount of ₹11 lakh. Rawal's legal team responded by stating there was no official contract or finalized script, and the signing amount had been repaid with interest.
Amidst the turmoil, Sajid Nadiadwala, known for his work on the "Housefull" franchise, stepped in to mediate. Firoz Nadiadwala credited Sajid and Ahmed Khan for their crucial roles in reconciling differences and mending old wounds. He emphasized Sajid's dedication, noting that he "put in a lot of personal time and efforts, over several days to resolve the matter". Firoz also acknowledged the strong bond between the Nadiadwala family and the "Hera Pheri" team, stating, "We have a bond of over 50 years".
Akshay Kumar also played a significant role in the reconciliation. Firoz Nadiadwala praised Kumar's supportive nature, saying, "We also have Akshay ji's support. He was very kind, loving, and affectionate in the entire process of sorting out the issues". He highlighted their long-standing relationship since 1996, emphasizing Kumar's willingness to bring everyone back on board.
Paresh Rawal himself addressed the situation, stating, "There's no controversy...It is all resolved now". He emphasized the importance of respecting the audience's love for the franchise and delivering a worthwhile film, stating, "You can't take things for granted". Rawal also clarified that his return involved "fine-tuning ourselves," suggesting adjustments were made to accommodate creative perspectives.
With the original cast reunited and Priyadarshan back as director, "Hera Pheri 3" is now back on track. The film is expected to begin filming in late 2025 and is slated for release in 2027. Firoz Nadiadwala has promised that the new film will stay true to the original's spirit, ensuring another classic entertainer in the "Hera Pheri" franchise.
The resolution of this conflict has been a major relief for fans, who can now anticipate the return of the iconic trio and their signature comedic timing. While some speculate that the initial controversy was a publicity stunt, the confirmed return of Paresh Rawal has largely been met with excitement and renewed anticipation for "Hera Pheri 3".
