Kalpataru Ltd made its debut on the Indian stock market on Tuesday, July 1, with a flat listing at ₹414 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), matching its issue price. Simultaneously, on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the shares listed at ₹414.10, a marginal increase of 0.02% over the IPO price.
The IPO, valued at ₹1,590 crore, was open for subscription from June 24 to June 26. It garnered a healthy response, being oversubscribed by 2.31 times. The IPO comprised a fresh issue of 3.84 crore equity shares, with no offer for sale (OFS) component.
The IPO received bids for 4.93 crore shares, significantly exceeding the 2.13 crore shares available. The Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB) segment saw strong demand, being subscribed 3.12 times. The Non-Institutional Investors (NII) category was subscribed 1.40 times, while the retail category achieved a subscription rate of 1.43 times.
The price band for the IPO was set at ₹387 to ₹414 per share. Retail investors were required to apply for a minimum of 36 shares, amounting to ₹14,904.
Kalpataru intends to utilize the net proceeds from the IPO for debt repayment and general corporate purposes. Specifically, the company plans to repay or prepay certain borrowings of the company and its subsidiaries, totaling ₹1,192.50 crore. As of April 2025, Kalpataru had total borrowings of ₹10,186 crore.
Ahead of the IPO, Kalpataru raised ₹708.34 crore from anchor investors, allotting 1.71 crore shares at ₹414 each to 16 anchor investors.
