In a stunning display of batting prowess, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the 14-year-old Indian prodigy, etched his name in the record books by smashing the fastest century in Youth ODI history. During the fourth match of the ongoing five-match series between India U-19 and England U-19 in Worcester on Saturday, Suryavanshi reached the milestone in a mere 52 balls, leaving spectators and cricket experts in awe.

Suryavanshi's explosive innings surpassed the previous record held by Pakistan's Kamran Ghulam, who had reached a century in 53 deliveries. This remarkable feat further solidifies Suryavanshi's reputation as a rising star in the cricketing world.

The young left-handed batsman has been in sensational form throughout the series, consistently showcasing his ability to dominate opposition bowlers. In the third Youth ODI, Suryavanshi played a scintillating knock of 86 runs off just 31 balls, which included six boundaries and a record-breaking nine sixes. This helped India U-19 defeat England U-19 by four wickets. With the nine sixes, Suryavanshi broke the record for most sixes in an innings in Youth ODIs for India Under-19, surpassing Mandeep Singh’s mark of eight set against Australia Under-19 in 2009.

Prior to his record-breaking century, Suryavanshi also displayed his aggressive intent by smashing a fifty off just 20 balls in the same series. This was the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in U-19 ODIs, only behind Rishabh Pant's 18-ball half-century against Nepal in 2016.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi's journey to cricketing stardom began at a young age. Born on March 27, 2011, in Tajpur, Bihar, he started playing cricket at the age of four and was coached by his father before joining a cricket academy at nine. He made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024 at the age of 12 years and 284 days, becoming the second-youngest cricketer to play in the Ranji Trophy for Bihar.

In April 2025, Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in the IPL, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls while playing for Rajasthan Royals. This was the second-fastest century in IPL history.

Suryavanshi's record-breaking spree and consistent performances have drawn comparisons to some of the biggest names in cricket. His aggressive batting style, coupled with his ability to find the boundary with ease, makes him a dangerous proposition for any opposition. As he continues to mature and develop his game, the sky is the limit for this young talent.

The India U-19 tour of England 2025, has seen both teams battle it out in a series of competitive matches. India won the first Youth ODI by 6 wickets in Hove on June 27, 2025. England bounced back in the second Youth ODI, winning by 1 wicket in Northampton on June 30, 2025. India then secured a 4-wicket victory in the third Youth ODI in Northampton on July 2, 2025. Suryavanshi's record-breaking century in the fourth Youth ODI has put India in a strong position to win the series.
