Despite the lack of official confirmation, series creator Chinaka Hodge has expressed optimism about the show's future, hoping for multiple seasons on Disney+.
In an interview, Hodge stated, "I'll keep it with you a buck, I'm hoping for all work in Hollywood right now. Yes, a second season, a third season, a fourth season. Yes!". However, she also acknowledged that the decision rests on viewership ratings, urging fans to "tune in and show Disney and the MCU that we have a strong fan base for Ironheart".
Adding to the ambiguity, Dominique Thorne, who plays Riri Williams/Ironheart, revealed in an interview with The Direct that she was unaware of any ongoing discussions at Marvel regarding a potential second season. When asked about the possibility of "Ironheart" being renewed, Thorne responded, "No, no. Not yet".
Despite the uncertainty, Thorne has shared her hopes for her character's trajectory should the series continue. She expressed interest in seeing Riri "explore the full range of other options presented to her in Season 1". Thorne also noted how Riri's experiences in the first season have broadened her understanding of the world, stating, "Her mind is opened about what actually exists in the world, realizing that it's so much bigger than what she thought, even in her hometown, that things are so much bigger and there's a lot more going on than she ever cared to know or to understand".
Adding another layer to the situation, Sev Ohanian, a producer on "Ironheart," suggested that while a second season is not guaranteed, the characters introduced in the series could potentially appear in other MCU projects. "Those characters can get picked up anywhere. It could be a season two, it could be a different show altogether. It could be a movie," Ohanian stated.
