England Player's Humorous "Take The Draw" Advice to Shubman Gill: Indian Captain Responds Masterfully.

The second Test match between England and India at Edgbaston has been filled with drama, not only on the field but also through light-hearted banter between players. India's captain, Shubman Gill, found himself in the middle of one such exchange with England's Harry Brook on Day 4.

As Gill was batting and India's lead was mounting, Brook, stationed in the slips, tried to get into the Indian captain's head. With rain predicted for the afternoon of Day 5, Brook suggested that Gill should declare their innings with a score of 450. He was heard saying, "Not 450 declared? Shubman, you know it's raining tomorrow. Half day. Afternoon. It's raining". Gill responded with "Bad luck for us". Following this, Brook playfully urged Gill to "Take the draw".

Gill, who was in superb form, responded to Brook's suggestion with a simple but firm, "Bad luck for us". This epic reply indicated India's intent to push for a win rather than settle for a draw, despite the unfavorable weather forecast.

Shubman Gill's exceptional performance in the match put India in a commanding position. He became only the third Indian skipper to score centuries in both innings of a Test match, joining the ranks of Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli. Gill's scores of 269 in the first innings and 161 in the second innings highlight his dominant form and solidify his impact as a captain. In fact, Gill became the first player to score a double century and 150 in the same test.

Gill's batting masterclass put India firmly in control of the second Test, with the team determined to level the five-match series 1-1 after losing the opening Test. His remarkable contribution of 430 runs in the match is second only to Graham Gooch's 456 against India in 1990.

The Indian team reached a total of 1,014 runs, their highest ever in a Test match. This achievement is a testament to their strong batting lineup and their determination to win.

By the end of Day 4, India had set England a daunting target of 608 runs, and the hosts were struggling at 72-3. The dismissal of key batsmen such as Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Joe Root put England in a precarious position, requiring them to score 536 more runs to win.

While a draw might be the best-case scenario for England, even that seemed improbable given India's strong position. Some fans felt that Gill's declaration was conservative, as India continued batting until the drinks break in the last session.

The exchange between Gill and Brook added a touch of humor to the tense contest, showcasing the camaraderie between players even in the heat of battle. Gill's "Bad luck for us" response became a talking point, admired by fans as a display of confidence and intent.

As play moved into Day 5, the weather forecast became a significant factor. With rain predicted, India's chances of securing a victory could be affected. However, Gill and the Indian team remained focused on their goal, determined to fight for a win regardless of the conditions.
