The highly anticipated sequel to the 1997 war epic Border, titled Border 2, is currently in production, and recent reports indicate that the film's stars, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, have filmed a high-energy song sequence. The song, reportedly composed by Anu Malik and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya, was shot at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune.

According to sources, the filming took place between July 1st and July 3rd, marking the first time the four lead actors – Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty – have shot together in their respective uniforms. Over 200 dancers dressed as cadets joined the stars. The song will depict Ahan, Varun, and Diljit as young cadets before they became officers. While Dosanjh, Dhawan, and Shetty were filming the song, Sunny Deol remained behind to complete action sequences.

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film features Sunny Deol, reprising his role from the original Border, alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 23, 2026.

The original Border was based on the Battle of Longewala during the India-Pakistan War of 1971. Border 2 will also be based on the 1971 war but will depict different battles. Sunny Deol stated that Border 2 aims to rekindle the same patriotic fervor among the younger generation that was seen in the first film.

The film has faced some controversies, including rumors of Diljit Dosanjh being replaced due to his collaboration with Pakistani actress Hania Amir in Sardaar Ji 3. However, these rumors were put to rest when Dosanjh revealed his Border 2 look on social media.

Border 2 is expected to be a grand war epic filled with chest-thumping patriotism. The film is currently in its third shooting schedule at the National Defence Academy in Pune.
