Aahana Kumra, known for her roles in "Lipstick Under My Burkha" and "The Accidental Prime Minister," has embarked on a new chapter in her career by launching her own production company, Working Panda Films. This decision stems from a lack of acting opportunities that she found creatively fulfilling, leading her to create opportunities for herself and other women in the industry.

Kumra revealed that she hadn't received an offer that truly excited her in over three years. "I didn't want to settle for peanuts that were being offered to me by producers," she stated, highlighting her desire for more substantial and meaningful roles. Recognizing the limited roles available for women in the industry, she decided to take matters into her own hands. "Roles for women are limited, and within that, so many actresses are struggling to get that one job," Kumra noted.

Working Panda Films, co-founded with casting director Apurva Singh Rathore, has already begun its first project: a music video. While Kumra isn't starring in this initial venture, she is enthusiastic about acting in future projects produced under her own banner, allowing her to shape stories from behind the scenes. Kumra's foray into production is driven by a desire to create better opportunities for women in entertainment. She hopes her company will open doors for herself and other female actors.

Kumra acknowledges the responsibilities that come with being a producer. "As a producer, there's a lot of responsibility, which you didn't even know existed when you're on the other side," she said. Despite the challenges, she felt it was the right time to step outside her comfort zone.

In addition to her new production company, Kumra has several other projects in the works. In 2022, she was seen in Madhur Bhandarkar's "India Lockdown". Aahana is also set to star in a Hindi feature film titled "Cancer" alongside Sharib Hashmi, directed by Faisal Hashmi. The film is described as a mind-bending thriller.

Kumra's decision to shift her focus to production reflects a growing trend among actors who are seeking more control over their careers and the stories being told. Her journey highlights the challenges faced by many actors, especially women, in the Indian film industry, and her determination to create her own path is an inspiring example of entrepreneurial spirit and artistic vision.
