A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against cricketer Yash Dayal in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, following a complaint by a woman alleging sexual exploitation, physical violence, mental harassment, and cheating through false promises of marriage. The FIR was registered at the Indirapuram police station under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant alleges a five-year-long relationship with Dayal, during which he exploited her emotionally, mentally, and physically under the false pretense of marriage. She claims that Dayal repeatedly made false promises of marriage and established physical relations with her based on these promises. The woman further stated that Dayal introduced her to his family, who welcomed her as a prospective daughter-in-law, which deepened her trust in him.
According to the complainant, she met Dayal on social media in late 2020, and their first meeting took place in Prayagraj. She claims to have stayed at his house on several occasions and was close to his family. In 2022, she even attended the IPL final with Dayal's family when his team, the Gujarat Titans, won the championship. She stated that the relationship lasted for four and a half years but began to deteriorate in the last two and a half years. She alleges that Dayal's relationships with other women caused her deep mental trauma. She also told the police that she was suffering from bouts of depression, for which she sought treatment.
The woman claimed that she was "emotionally and financially dependent" on Dayal during their relationship. She stated that she possesses evidence, including chats, screenshots, video calls, and photos, to support her allegations.
The Ghaziabad police authorities confirmed that they were informed about the allegations after the woman filed a complaint with the Uttar Pradesh government's grievance redressal portal. The police have recorded her statement but have yet to speak with Dayal. Patil Nimish Dasharath, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans-Hindon), Ghaziabad, told The Indian Express that Dayal has recorded his statement before the police.
Yash Dayal, a fast bowler, has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was also part of RCB's IPL 2025 title win, taking 13 wickets in 15 matches. He has represented Uttar Pradesh in all domestic formats but has yet to make his debut for the Indian national team.
The police have registered a case against Dayal under BNS Section 69, which deals with sexual intercourse achieved through deceitful means, including false promises of marriage. The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be initiated once the facts are clear.
