Following India's momentous Test victory over England at Edgbaston, former England cricketer Jonathan Trott may have inadvertently revealed the London address of Virat Kohli during a post-match discussion. The incident occurred during a broadcast on Sony Sports Network, where Trott was analyzing Kohli's role within the Indian team.
Trott's comment, "Doesn't he live in St. John's Wood or somewhere nearby? Can he not be persuaded to come back?" has sparked speculation about the Indian batting star's current residence in London. St. John's Wood is an affluent area known for its charming streets, green spaces, and proximity to Regent's Park and Lord's Cricket Ground.
While Trott's statement has stirred curiosity, previous reports indicate that Kohli's London residence is actually in Notting Hill. According to The Telegraph, Notting Hill is located approximately 2.5 miles from St. John's Wood. This proximity makes Trott's claim plausible, as the two neighborhoods are a short distance from each other.
Kohli, who retired from Test and T20I cricket, has been residing in the UK with his family. In June 2025, before the Test series against England, Kohli hosted some of his Indian teammates, including Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Siraj, at his London home.
Following India's win at Edgbaston, Kohli took to social media to congratulate the team, acknowledging Shubman Gill's leadership and the bowling performances of Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj. He wrote, "Great victory for India at Edgbaston. Fearless and kept pushing England to the wall. Brilliantly led by Shubhman with the bat and in the field and impactful performances from everyone. Special mention to Siraj and Akash for the way they bowled on this pitch".
Trott responded to Kohli's social media post by saying, "Coming back to Virat Kohli's tweet, no wonder he misses that dressing room feeling. I sometimes wonder how quickly that feeling comes back after you give up the game". Trott also praised Shubman Gill's performance at Edgbaston, stating, "Today, he showed how complete a batter he is. It reminded me of the previous Indian number four, almost a carbon copy of that genius... I honestly feel privileged to be here and witness that innings".
The fact that Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma, have been spending considerable time in London has fueled speculation that they may be considering a permanent move. Sources say that the birth of their second child, Akaay, in London has strengthened their connection to the city. The couple appreciates the privacy they find in London, away from the intense media scrutiny they experience in India, which is an important factor for raising their children.
