Germany rallied to defeat Denmark 2-1 in a compelling Euro 2025 group stage match, with Lea Schüller completing the comeback. The victory puts Germany in a strong position to advance to the quarterfinals.

Denmark initially took the lead against the run of play when Amalie Vangsgaard scored in the 26th minute. Vangsgaard capitalized on a loose ball, firing a shot past Ann-Katrin Berger from a tight angle. Germany thought they had scored earlier, but the goal was ruled offside after a VAR review. Germany also had a penalty decision overturned by VAR when it was determined a handball occurred outside the box.

Despite the setbacks, Germany persevered. In the 53rd minute, Linda Dallmann was fouled by Katrine Veje, resulting in a penalty awarded after VAR intervention. Sjoeke Nüsken calmly converted the penalty to equalize. Then, in the 66th minute, Jule Brand set up Schüller, who swept the ball into the net to give Germany the lead. Brand had also assisted Schüller's goal in Germany's previous match against Poland.

The match wasn't without its challenges. Play was briefly halted when the referee required treatment for a leg injury. Denmark's Emma Snerle was also forced to leave the game after being struck in the face by a powerful shot.

Germany's win moved them to six points in Group C, making them virtually certain to reach the quarterfinals. They will secure their place in the next round if Poland fails to beat Sweden. For Denmark, the loss leaves them on the brink of an early exit from the tournament.

Schüller's performance was particularly noteworthy. The Bayern Munich striker has now scored in consecutive games, solidifying her role as Germany's leading attacker following Alexandra Popp's retirement. Nüsken's composed penalty and Brand's creative assist also proved crucial in the victory.

Germany is aiming for its first major title since winning the European Championship in 2013. They came close in the previous edition, losing to England in the 2022 final. This win against Denmark demonstrates their determination to compete for the title once again.
