Vangsgaard capitalized on a loose ball, firing a shot past Ann-Katrin Berger from a tight angle. Germany thought they had scored earlier, but the goal was ruled offside after a VAR review. Germany also had a penalty decision overturned by VAR when it was determined a handball occurred outside the box.

Despite the setbacks, Germany persevered. In the 53rd minute, Linda Dallmann was fouled by Katrine Veje, resulting in a penalty awarded after VAR intervention. Sjoeke Nüsken calmly converted the penalty to equalize. Then, in the 66th minute, Jule Brand set up Schüller, who swept the ball into the net to give Germany the lead.
