BTS leader RM has shared an update with ARMY regarding the group's progress on their upcoming album, describing the experience as "a strange one" in a heartfelt letter. The message, posted on Weverse, offers a glimpse into the group's activities in Los Angeles, where they are currently working on new music.
RM's letter, written in Korean, conveys a sense of gratitude and reflection. He mentions that it has been a little over two months since his discharge from military service and that he is living, working, and spending time with the other members in Los Angeles. He likens the unfamiliar feeling to their "Bon Voyage Pyeongchang" experience.
He reflects on the nature of the group, questioning whether BTS is a fixed entity or something constantly changing. He alludes to the idea that each member may have a different perception of what "Bangtan" means to them. Despite the uncertainties, RM expresses his commitment to the present moment and his gratitude for being able to create music with his friends.
Regarding the new album, RM admits that he is still figuring out its direction. He hopes that the time spent together in Los Angeles will translate into something beautiful, something he had forgotten for too long. He closes the letter by asking ARMY, "What color are you right now?" promising to return soon.
The other members of BTS also appear to be engaged in the album's production. J-Hope shared photos on Instagram of the group at a beach in Los Angeles, but also included a video clip of Kim Taehyung singing in the studio and another of himself recording a track while Jungkook laughed.
BTS's last full-group project was the album "Proof," released in June 2022. After the release of Proof, the members pursued individual activities and fulfilled their mandatory military service. Suga was the last member to be discharged in June 2025.
The new album is expected to be released in the spring of 2026, with a world tour to follow. In the lead-up to their comeback, BTS released the live album "Permission to Dance on Stage – Live" on July 18, 2025. This album captured the energy of their 2021 tour and featured 22 songs performed across 12 shows in Seoul, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.
ARMYs are eagerly awaiting the new album and the group's return to the stage. RM's letter offers reassurance that BTS is working diligently and that they are excited to share their new music with the world.
