Mumbai police have launched a search for singer-songwriter Yasser Desai, 35, after he allegedly performed a dangerous stunt on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link early Tuesday morning. Desai is alleged to have climbed the railing of the bridge and recorded a video, which later went viral on social media. Police are investigating whether the stunt was related to an upcoming music video launch.
The Bandra police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Desai and two associates who were with him. The FIR was filed under sections 285 (danger in public way), 281 (rash driving), and 125 (endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. Police also stated that any kind of stunt on the Sea Link is prohibited, and stern action is taken against those who do it.
law enforcement was alerted to the incident after motorists who witnessed the stunt recorded videos and posted them on social media. Some of the motorists suspected a suicide attempt. Police reviewed CCTV footage from the sea link, which confirmed that a person stopped his car on the bridge and climbed the railing while two others recorded him. The individuals then left in the car. Police are working to determine Desai's motive once he is brought in for questioning. Authorities are trying to locate Desai's address using the car's registration details.
The video circulating on social media shows Desai standing on the railing wires of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, which is a violation of public safety norms. The police took action after the video went viral.
